  The room was nice and spacious and a good size bathroom. Check in staff were friendly. There was a queue to be seated for breakfast and the staff were disinterested and felt like it was too much effort. But the food was reasonable and lots of choice available.

  I went for an 80s tribute night- stage act and DJ were good and bumped this review to 2 stars. The food was served with the clatter of the waiters dropping cutlery and dishes all around.
  One of our party became unwell so I was delayed in sitting down to eat. "It's too late to serve the first course!" my colleagues were told when they tried to ensure I got my full meal. Luckily one waitress was very helpful. I can't comment on the soup, but the chicken was pretty dry, the potatoes -still don't know what you'd call them, they looked a bit like chunky crisps- were dry and not very warm and the veg was over done. There wasn't enough gravy to salvage the dry chicken and potatoes. Desert was fine.
  The venue was ok but we were told off for leaving glasses of water on the reception desk when we left to take or poorly friend home.

  A surprising gem of a hotel! Stayed here for 2 nights. Rooms were basic (nothing glamorous) but were amazingly clean with attractive decor that emphasized the quaint / historic quality. They had the deepest and most luxurious modern bathtubs I have ever seen in a hotel!!! Unlimited hot water and a bathtub that goes up to your chin. Staff were extremely quick and personal, too. I loved it!

  I visited the Calcot hotel recently as a family member of mine had booked a wedding there to look at the type of rooms they do. The hotel is clean and welcoming and the rooms were of good taste and cosy. The person showing us round gave us complimentary tea and biscuits. We look forward to staying here later in the year.
